national library's having a used book sale! at the expo, 12th-13th august, 9.30 - 8 =) YAY. stuff's going for quite cheap like packs of magazines, 10 for $5 kind of thing which means i might be able to get some chinese journals. and eng/chi books selling at $2!

maths test was a killer.

yes because i have nothing better to say. a random quote i saw of which of course i do not agree with, God can make better music than either of them, although i NEVER understood why angels have to drawn holding harps :

when the angels sing for God, they sing Bach; but I am sure that when they sing for each other they sing Mozart - and God eavesdrops.

ladidums! i realise that i absolutely do not appreciate vocals, except plainchant & gregorian chants, all those medieval, pre-renaissance sacred stuff. just plain vocals with no accompaniment, singing in perfect fifths or fourths, or major thirds and sixths & sounding absolutely wonderful :)

haha if anyone's interested, go watch Amadeus, its an ancient movie about Mozart. probably not very historically accurate but its shocking. as in, moving. i know i cried the first time i watched it, but then, i cry in almost any movie. i really like the portrayal of Mozart, as a genius, a prodigy, an obscenely gifted artist, but yet deep down inside he was weak. he probably never lived for himself - it was always dependence on his music, his father, his booze, his wife, the spurts of gaiety he'd get when he fooled around. but i quite liked his character - the childlike innocence and ignorance (+ a quest for love) cum very strangely, a great humility. i mean compare to Wagner who thought he was the god of music or something like that. i mean although Wagner was a wonderful composer (TRISTAN AND ISOLDE!) he was nothing of the sort can.

BLAH im getting annoyingly analytical again. if only i could analyse lit texts and comprehension passages the way i analyse characters in movies.

and last but not least, i have a crush on tchaikovsky! just ignore the fact that he was homosexual. but he really rawks all dont you think!
